Iceland - the Enchanting South and East Spring 2016

*Trip begins morning of Saturday, March 26th and ends Friday evening, April 1st (7 nights, 7 days). . You must leave by Friday morning, March 25th at the latest in order to arrive early morning on Saturday. There are 2 airlines flying to Iceland from the USA at this time of year – Icelandair and WOW.
Cost - $2300 per person (double occupancy) includes pre-trip instruction and preparation, on location photography instruction, driver, vehicle and costs, transfers from and to the airport or city pick up on day 1, 7 nights of hotels (double occupancy), and all breakfasts. *Single rooms are available for an additional $200.
Not included - return airfare to KEF Keflavik, snack, lunches, dinner and alcohol, add options such as ice cave tours and horseback riding. To be safe, budget for an additional $70 a day for lunch and dinner. We eat at AMAZING places with fresh food made with LOVE. We can eat hot dogs or fast food but meh – maybe one day!
Payment - First non-refundable deposit of $1000 is due ASAP to reserve a spot. Next step is to buy your plane ticket and send me your flight itinerary. The final $1300.00 payment is due at the beginning of March. You are welcome to send the total amount in 1 payment.
*Iceland’s weather is unpredictable so visiting all these places will depend on weather and road access. I have planned this trip to have ample time to wait out the weather, return to places with different light and also for opportunities to see and capture the Northern Lights, sun storms and clear skies willing.
Day 1 Students arrive early morning Saturday, March 26th – pick up at airport and drive south. -visit a horse farm, Seljalandfoss, plane wreck, Skogafoss and Reynisfjara beach, soak in a hut tub and eat delicious Icelandic cuisine.
Days 2 and 3 Sunday, March 27th – Return or complete any sights we didn't get to on day 1. We drive East to Vatnajokull area -Visit Jokulsarlon, Vatnajokull, Batman Mountain, Black sand beaches, horses, etc… *Add on opportunity to visit ice caves.
Days 4 and 5 Tuesday March 29th – drive to Breiðdalsvík and stay there 2 nights. Visit Fáskrúðsfjörður and Eskifjörður. Photograph the landscape and seascapes in the area and 1-day trip north to Ellefoss.
Day 6 Thursday, March 30th - drive to Kirkjubæjarklaustur and on the way visit Svartifoss and Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon.
Day 7 Friday, April 1st – drive to and stay Grindavik, re-photograph or visit sights missed on day 1 and 2, possible horseback riding on a black sand beach and visit Strandakirkja and Krysuvik. The hotel has an airport shuttle for those students leaving on Saturday.
Other options are to take a flybus into Reykjavik for the day or stay 1 or additional days in the city. Hotel and touring the city would be on your own and very worthwhile. I can make great suggestions on where to stay and eat and what to do in Reykjavik.
